Sean moving across sea ice and open leads on the Arctic Ocean. The block that Sean's colleague had just crossed ahead of him broke away under the weight of the sledges revealing the open water and making the remaining ice around unstable.

In 1994 Sean organised and led the first ski crossing of Iceland and raised over £50,000 for the International Spinal Research Trust. Here the team meet Diana, the Princess of Wales at Kensington Palace to launch the expedition. Sean leads a memorial service at the exact location of Captain Scott's Pole Camp of 1912. Sean and his team were the first servicemen to ski to the South Pole since Captain Scott - Sean later led his team on a successful overland return journey and into polar history. The Union flag, flags of the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines and a replica of Captain Scott''s are being flown.(L-R Andy Brown, Sean, Craig Hunter, Paul Mattin)

Beechy Island

Sean lays a wreath at the graves of Royal Marine William Braine from the ill-fated Franklin Expedition of 1845 on Beechy Island in the Canadian High Arctic. This was the first official visit by a serving Royal Marine since Braine was buried.

Sir Jimmy Saville

In 1993 Sean organised and lead a fundraising expedition to the USA in aid of Childhood Cancer. Sean led his team on a non-stop cycle across the San Francisco Mountains (250 miles), a trek through the Grand Canyon (30 miles), a run through the Painted Desert (110 miles) and a swim at Flagstaff (5 miles). Crossing open lead

Joining two sledges together to make a raft in order to cross a large open lead. A rope remains attached to a team member on the near side ice for safety.

Princess Royal

Sean introduces the HRH The Princess Royal, Rear Admiral Timothy Laurence and the Fist Sea Lord to his Polar Quest expedition team. Polar Quest saw Sean leading teams to the magnetic North Pole, geographical South Pole and a student expedition to the High Arctic.
